This article explains how the NFL in particular is making rule changes to adapt to the new concern of brain damage related to sports. The article discusses how the league is trying to eliminate usage of the head as much as possible in football. The league believes with the new rules they are making it forces athletes to avoid putting their head in less potently dangerous situations.
Problem: Many believe that sports now a day are not doing a great job of protecting the athletes. The main concern amongst most of these critics seems to be brain related injuries.
Response: Sports are taking proper precautions in many ways. In football itself more rule changes are being made every year in particular for the safety of one’s head and the issue of brain injuries in sports. The fact of the matter is there has always been a connection with brain injuries/damage and sports and it will continue to be that way as long as contact sports exist. In fact the issue of brain damage and sports is only more relevant now then it was back then to the sports world because more players are suing the leagues and not because there are more players who suffer from brain damage then in the past.
